Go Back to Your Knitting Everyone

A yarn sale at Hobby Lobby is just about as exciting as a sale at Forever 21.  And of course, since I am not 80 years old, watching Wheel of Fortune and knitting- people make fun of me daily for loving to knit.

I started out crocheting...but that didn't work out to well. Everything I made seemed to get smaller and smaller. When I first started to knit, a friend of mine made me chopsticks and decorated them with feathers to make my fake knitting needles appear to be more credible.

My relationship with knitting dwindled as I got older but we seemed to rekindle our friendship when I decided to use all the yarn I had to make a blanket. I wanted to get rid of all of the mountains of yarn I had, and what better way than to make a blanket. I worked on it little by little and a year later, I finally finished my first blanket. When it was done I discovered it was kind of ridiculously big. It covered my parents kingsize bed and still had some hanging off the edge.

Through the year it took to make this blanket, friends wanted me to knit them blankets too. So, if they bought the yarn I would make them a blanket. My first customer was a 6"4 boy. Soooo....I had to make his blanket just as big. I have made five blankets over the years big and small, tons of scarves, bracelets, and also a few hats that turned out more like yamakas.

My great grandmother has always been a crocheter, so when she died, she gave me all of her yarn and her knitting basket. And this last year, I have been making a blanket out of her yarn, in memory of her.
The picture below is a picture of the first blanket I ever knitted.
